C5 Corvette Coupe NOS 5177 Nitrous Installation Instructions & Pictures
Here's the bottle installation. The 10 lb bottle fits perfectly in the center storage compartment of a C5 Coupe. If you have a factory CD Changer you will have to relocate it to the small compartment on the passenger side. No biggy...the wires reach and it fits perfectly, although you do need to drill new holes through the rear wheel well for mounting it.
While mounting the bottle perpendicular to the car instead of parallel is not ideal, I have noticed no adverse effects other than when the bottle is very low it doesn't hit as hard. The cool thing about this bottle location is it not only hides the bottle but it also retains your top storage capability....
Now starts the wiring and line mess. I don't have pictures of the line going to the rear compartment, but it goes under the rear carpet over to the passenger side and then gets tucked under the panel at about the speaker....then follows under the panel up to the door sill and tucks nicely under there all way to the front panel and then through the passenger firewall and comes out behind the battery. Totally hidden in the passenger compartment. Theses pictures show the lines and wiring going through the firewall on the passenger side and coming out of the firewall to the battery compartment (battery removed)...then routing the line up to the intake.
Now it's time to install the nozzles in the intake. I have a Vararam intake, but the installation should be similar on most intakes. Obviously, the first step is to remove the intake from the car....
Reattaching the intake, connecting the nitrous lines to the intake, and running the wires for the nitrous solenoids...
Final mounting of the nitrous solenoids and placement of the nitrous switches in the passenger compartment. I found the hidden ashtray makes a prime location for the switches. This "switch plate" is a proto-type I made. Sometime I'll get around to replacing it with a nice and pretty lexicon or plexi-glass plate.
And Woo-Hoo!!! Here it is after completion and a bit of cleanup!
